Confidentiality

What does confidentiality mean when working with your school counselor?

A student’s right to privacy and confidentiality is the basis for a positive counseling relationship. Confidentiality makes sure that school counselors won’t share students’ information with others except when the student gives permission or when there is a clear and present danger to the student and/or to other persons.
