Individual counseling is a one-to-one session with the Elementary School Counselor to discuss a problem or topic of interest. Friendship issues, difficulty in the classroom, on the playground, or on the bus, conflict resolution, difficulty coming to school, and anger management are frequent issues facing children. Referrals for students to meet with me can be made by classroom teachers or other staff members, parents, or through student self-referrals. I have procedures for students to access me and students should be aware of this procedure. Parents or teachers may contact me by email, phone, voice mail or in person to request a one-on-one session. Often a follow-up to the session will be needed. A “Consent for Counseling” form is not needed for individual counseling since it is not regular and ongoing in nature.
