League of Women voters brings Civic Education to life

Over the past several months, Clark County Vice President for the League of Women Voters (LWV) - Katherine Murphy, shared the LWV Civics is Fundamental curriculum with students in Evergreen Public Schools.

Contemporary World Issues students at Evergreen and Mountain View High School learned about the importance of Civic Engagement and participation in the electoral process.

Topics included the history behind the Electoral College, the impact of voter participation, the United States Constitution and what the rights of citizenship entail in a democracy. Eligible students also registered to vote!

The LWV works with educators, community members and legislators as well as educate citizens on how they can be more effective advocates for the issues they care about.

For more information on how to get involved with the LWV contact Katherine Murphy at (971) 220-5874 or email at kbsmgb@gmail.com
