The Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction recently released statewide graduation rates for the class of 2016. Once again, Evergreen Public Schools outpaced the state average of 78.1 percent with a rate a graduation rate of 83.4 percent. Not only was the district’s overall on-time graduation rate up from the previous year by more than three percentage points, all of the subgroups tracked in the official results also were higher than the state rates in 2016.

District officials say the graduation outcomes are driven by programs that start when students enter Kindergarten, and continue throughout the grades. At the high school level, Executive Director of Secondary Education Bill Oman credits the high school principals and their teams for consistently supporting and identifying students at the first sign they are struggling, and then providing interventions and supports. “By keeping students from falling behind, and meeting students at their need and level, we have helped Evergreen students stay on track to graduate.”
